NEP-MAP is committed to purposefully and intentionally working towards the opportunity for all to have access to the services and supports needed to eliminate disparities.

Mission

NEP-MAP will collaborate to develop, advise and advocate for programs that will advance the mental health of Nebraska children 0-21 years old.

NEP-MAP is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of cooperative agreement U4CMC32322 to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NEDHHS) totaling $445,000 per year with additional 20% percent non-federal funds cost-sharing. The contents are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the official views of, nor an endorsement by, HRSA, HHS, the U.S. Government, or NEDHHS.

What's New

All states have a version of the Safe Haven Law; designed to save infant lives by decriminalizing the abandonment of a child by a parent that is unable to care for him/her. Nebraska's Safe Haven Law was different—there was no age limit. What happened is that dozens of adolescents and teenagers were dropped off at local hospitals, bringing to light the mental and behavioral healthcare crisis in pediatrics.

Now 10 years later, the Nebraska Partnership for Mental Healthcare Access in Pediatrics is utilizing Parent Experiences and perspective to change the landscape of equitable and appropriate access to pediatric mental healthcare in Nebraska. Learn how family representatives are engaged, retained, and valued above all in this work.
